Everyday spaces can do more for the people who use them
MEG investigates how people use spaces and identifies opportunities to improve their experience. Starting with real needs, it designs and implements physical solutions that open up new possibilities for use, interaction, participation, and rest.
Every space has needs worth understanding
Everyday spaces bring together people with different needs, routines, and ways of interacting. Yet these spaces are not always designed with all of those experiences in mind.
MEG studies how these environments are used, identifies opportunities for improvement, and develops physical interventions that respond to people, institutional goals, and the specific conditions of each place.
A need can become new possibilities for a space
Every intervention responds to a specific context. MEG combines research and design to develop physical solutions that can become part of spaces and the ways people use them.
This visualization illustrates one possible modular configuration. It does not represent the full range of solutions MEG can investigate or develop.
Every project begins before design
The MEG System connects observation, intervention, and learning. Each project requires understanding its users, developing the capabilities needed, and assessing how well the solution fits its setting.
-
01
Discovery
We observe the space, listen to the institution, and define a real opportunity before proposing a solution.
-
02
Design and intervention
We translate that opportunity into a physical response shaped by the people, routines, and constraints of the place.
-
03
Implementation and integration
We coordinate production, quality, safety, and installation so the intervention becomes part of everyday life.
-
04
Care & Learning
We stay involved after installation: reviewing safety, function, and relevance while learning from actual use.
Installation does not end the project. It begins the learning that comes from real use.

Bright House, our first installed project
At Bright House, a child neurodevelopment center, MEG developed a physical intervention for an institutional setting serving children. Everyday use provided insights into interaction, independent use, durability, and adaptation to the context.
This experience contributes to the development of the MEG methodology. Applying it to other user groups and environments requires specific research and validation.
A short look at the installed space and its modules. The interactions shown illustrate possible use; they are not a measure of outcomes.
From design to actual use
Bright House allowed MEG to observe what happens when an intervention becomes part of an institution's routine.
Bright House professionals and staff described children approaching without initial instruction and shared interactions between children and adults.
Use also raised questions about height and reach, the clarity of some interactions, durability, and relevance beyond the initial novelty.
These are context-specific qualitative observations. This case does not demonstrate effects on development, learning, emotional regulation, or therapeutic outcomes.
MEG is exploring an intervention with BILIJ / Fundación Palabra connected to Festival Nido and the daily life of the library. Design and implementation are still in development.
Different spaces, new possibilities for use
MEG's methodology can be applied in different institutional contexts. Each setting has its own users, needs, and constraints that must be understood before developing an intervention.
Needs to understand
Waiting and transitions
Investigate how people experience waiting, arrival, and movement within an institution.
Rest and time spent
Explore opportunities for spaces for rest and connection to better respond to the people who use them.
Exploration and interaction
Identify situations where the physical environment can offer new forms of participation and interaction.
Participation and autonomy
Understand users' different needs and explore conditions that make everyday experiences easier.
Application contexts
- Education
Schools and preschools
Courtyards, corridors, and rooms that support how children learn and play.
- Culture
Libraries
Places that invite people to stay, explore, and return.
- Health
Waiting rooms
Waiting time no longer feels like time wasted.
- Commerce
Commercial spaces
Places people pass through that give them a reason to stop.
- City
Public spaces
Everyday places that people use day after day.
- Tailored
Your space
Where people spend time, there is a space to understand and design for.
These are some ideas for implementation, not installed projects.
